The suspect accused of the brutal murder of 24-year-old Kriti Kumari inside her hostel in Bengaluru has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh and is being brought back to the city for further investigation, confirmed Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand
Kriti Kumari, originally from Bihar, was residing in a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Bengaluru's bustling Koramangala neighbourhood. On Tuesday night, a man armed with a knife infiltrated the building around 11 pm and slit her throat before fleeing the scene.
Sources reveal that the accused is the boyfriend of Ms Kumari's roommate. The couple frequently fought over his unemployment, and Ms Kumari often intervened to defuse the situation, advising her roommate to distance herself from him. This advice allegedly provoked the man, leading to the fatal attack.
The gruesome murder was captured by CCTV cameras installed on the hostel premises. The footage shows the man knocking on Ms Kumari's door and, upon entry, swiftly dragging her into the corridor. Despite her attempts to resist, the attacker overpowered her and repeatedly stabbed her in the neck before fleeing. Other residents rushed out upon hearing the commotion, with one immediately calling the police.
